Jim’s education includes an Associates Degree from Mesabi Community College and a Bachelors Degree from Metropolitan State University. He has also had the privilege of completing the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Management Series, the Northwestern Supervision program and the prestigious Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command.
In announcing his candidacy Jim made the following statement: "We are fortunate that we live in a community where citizens feel safe. A testament to this is that Chaska and Chanhassen consistently rank as two of the best small cities to live in the entire country. As a proud member of the Carver County community, I will work to maintain its safety. During these difficult economic times, we need to be fiscally responsible without compromising public safety." The Sheriff’s Office provides police services for all of Carver County through contracting except for the City of Chaska. Our contract model is efficient, effective, and responsive and I fully intend to support contracting. In addition, I would like to expand community outreach, strengthen relationships with local schools, and expand our Restorative Practice programs.
Jim resides in Waconia with his wife and best friend Sue. He has three children: Melissa of Chaska, Jen who currently lives in Boston while finishing her law degree, and Brian who is in his second year at the University of Minnesota.
