Carver County is located in the southwest metropolitan area of the Twin Cities of Minnesota. It is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The Carver County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement coverage to all of Carver County with the exception of Chaska, which has its own Police Department. Carver County has a population of over 90,000 residents in 376 square miles, of which 357 square miles is land and 19 square miles is water. The cities of Carver, Chanhassen, Cologne, Hamburg, Mayer, New Germany, Norwood Young America, Victoria, Waconia and Watertown, as well as Hollywood, Watertown and Laketown Townships contract with the sheriff's office for additional services.
The Carver County Sheriff's Office currently has over 200 full-time, part-time and voluntary positions within the department. It is the responsibility of the Sheriff's Office to preserve peace and order within Carver County. As the highest ranking law enforcement official in the county, the Sheriff is responsible for delivering a service with each and every member of the office that is of the highest integrity and professionalism.
